D'Italiane Kitchen, Sunway Giza

I had a chance encounter with this place because I'm at Giza every Sunday while waiting for The Fiance to finish church. Besides Nando's, we don't really eat at restaurants here. I'll always be at Boost getting my juice and we'll have JoJo Chilli Pan Mee for lunch every Sunday. Well, one of these Sundays, I was craving for a good, old fashioned Lasagna. Chicken Lasagna to be specific.

And since Times Bookstore, another place where I wait for him, is just next to the restaurant, we decided to go there and try.

Previously, all pastas couldn't compare to my favourite pasta at Dave's, 1 Utama. I normally don't eat pasta except at Dave's. Unfortunately, Dave's quality has been slowly and steadily deteriorating, we decided to have the pasta here. WE WERE BLOWN AWAY! We had the Salmon Alfredo (RM29.90)  and my, it was out of this world!!! The Fiance even said that it was better than Dave's. The pasta was al dente, and the salmon was very fresh. The salmon in your plate comes in 2 varieties; Cooked and smoked so, you get the real air flown salmon on your plate! And yes, they weren't stingy with their sauce unlike Dave's, ever since the 50% lunch promo was changed to 30%...

This was my Chicken Lasagna (RM23.90) and it comes in Beef too. OK, all I can say is that, my cravings were satisfied after this, The lasagna was moist, flavourful in every bite, and the cheese, it whole lasagna was covered with a layer of cheese and cooked to perfection! I would say that, this is the best lasagna I've ever tasted!

I was having really bad PMS, so The Fiance decided to surprise me with this Triple Chocolate Banana with Vanilla Gelato (RM22.90) because my two favourite things are banana and chocolate. I guess, I was a bit mean to him as well. Anyways, I can't comment on this because I love bananas and chocolate and this was orgasmic...

Overall, I give this place a 9/10 because the waiters are all friendly, refillable water is only RM0.90 and the ambience is romantic and food was utterly amazing!

Cooking With Salmon

I'm crazy over Salmon nowadays. I find that it's the healthier alternatives to red meat and poultry and richer in oils and more nutritious. This is the salmon steak from Dome Cafe with rice. Salmon is so delicious!!! This is not bad but the price tag of 30+MYR is a little steep for lunch.

I bought this 2 slices of salmon fillet from Jaya Grocer at 10MYR and 11 MYR per slab! Super fresh and I wanted to pan fry it with a side of salad. Just marinate it with some S&P, let it rest and if you want a little spicy, put some Cayenne Pepper flakes like I did for The Fiance's fish.

I love Hollandaise sauce and how well it goes with salmon or egg dishes, so, after pan frying, I just heat up the bottle of hollandaise sauce (I got mine at Marks & Spencer) and it was delicious. Super simple to make and oh-so-delicious!

If you've read my previous post on Plan B and I was gushing about how much I love their Eggs Royale and how I promised that I'll attempt to make it, well, I made it. It was fast, easy and most of the time, you just assemble everything.

The salmon i used is the precut, prepacked and cold salmon. I got mine for 11MYR at Jaya Grocer and the English Muffins was 3.50MYR for a pack of 3 from the baker's son (Jaya Grocer at Damansara Perdana) and I only used 1. I'm going to give you the recipe to make the perfect eggs benedict which is just poached eggs.

POACHED EGG RECIPE:
1) Boil the water until it starts to simmer then add about 5ml of VINEGAR into the water and lower the heat.
2) Break the egg into a bowl first and then slowly lower it into the simmering water, allowing the water to enter the bowl and slowly pouring the eggs into the pot.
3) Use a ladle and keep the yolk close to the whites and after a few moments, you have your pretty pretty poached egg!

This is how a perfectly poached egg SHOULD look like.

Till the next time!

Maria's Cafe, Metropolitan SQ, Damansara Perdana

I've been on a strict diet since I joined Bizzy Body in order to lose weight for my graduation. Since then, I've been craving for salmon non stop. over the course of the next few posts, I'll be experimenting with Salmon, sliced salmon, raw salmon, etc... Anyways, I actually planned on cooking salmon but after reading numerous positive reviews about Maria's just downstairs of our home made my mouth water and I wanted to try the Grilled Salmon Fillet. Let me tell you, the meat just melt in your mouth and the tangerine sauce was absolutely delicious!!!! I would definitely go back again!!!

The Fiance had the creamy pasta with seafood and the sauce was home made and was above average. We concluded that Dave's, 1 Utama still serves the best pasta EVER! The Fiance isn't a fan of salmon and he prefers pasta dishes or his country's food so, he's a tad difficult to feed. hahahaha.

Maria's was relatively OK, will definitely bring Madrekins and the Familia to have dinner here someday. You have to note that the food and the ingredients used to prepare the food are fresh and everything has a home made taste to it...
