Alexis Bistro @ The Gardens, Mid Valley

To be healthy, we ordered the Arugula Salad with Duck Confit (26MYR) was delicious even though the portion was a tad too small. It's actually duck meat fried to crisp on to of a bed of roasted pear and arugula. There's a perfect balance of sweet and savoury, making this a lovely, well balanced dish!

For starters, we ordered the Chinese Man Tou (20MYR) which was out of the world! These were so damn good that we ordered 2 plates (6 pieces)! Its just simply crisp duck and scallions stuffed into a man tou but heck, it was good! The duck gave a savoury taste to the slightly sweet man tou buns. Would definitely go back for these yummy ducky!

As a main course, we ordered the Roasted Tarragon Chicken (38MYR) which was a bit of a disappointment for us even though the portion was generous, the taste was mediocre it does no justice to the hefty 38MYR pricetag!!!!

Madrekins who is an ardent fan of nuts absolutely loved this Tiramisu (15 MYR) cake which was a nutty explosion in every bite! It's a must have for every nutty person!

I think Alexis is just over rated and I succumbed to peer pressure to try this place out. The price of the food is expensive and the food is overall mediocre. It's like, Tamarind Springs.

But, of course, the food here is waaay better than Tamarind Springs! My judgement of mediocre food means that the food is edible and no complains but not worth the price of the food.

For example, the Tarragon Chicken costs about 38MYR, which is a total rip off because Rosemary Bites (Aman Suria) serves up better herbed chicken. Oh, and I didn't taste any tarragon at all, the chicken tastes like any edible roast chicken like Kenny Rogers.

Sorry to say but I'm being honest. The best of the dishes that we tried was the simple Chinese Man Tou and Tiramisu.

Banana Chocolate by Secret Recipe!

Today's little sweet treat is a slice of my favourite Banana Chocolate cake from Secret Recipe!!! OK, I'm going to repeat myself, I'm currently doing my 15,000 words dissertation and every other day, I "reward" myself with sweet treats to make writing easier!

I know it's crazy, but it helps! Anyways, some people like peanut butter and jelly, but I love banana's and chocolate. I will do a post just on all the delicious chocolate banana treats out there!!! I don't think one could go without the other.

I ALWAYS eat my bananas with Nutella or chocolate ice cream or any form of chocolates. This cake is heavenly!!! Besides the chocolate banana crepes and chocolate banana parfait!

This slice of cake is begins with the bottom layer of moist chocolate sponge, then, creamy, fluffy and light chocolate layer is covered with a generous amount of bananas and topped with another layer of sponge and at the top and side of the cake, it's covered with this mel-in-your mouth dark chocolate sauce that holds everything together....

The BF said that it's not nice, "Too many bananas and it's weird to eat bananas with chocolate" but, he loves me cause of my quirky ways so, he leaves the whole slice for me!!! I'm very possessive, strict no-sharing rule when it comes to dessert.

Anyways, I'm progressing with my dissertation and my weight. Till my next Choco Banana post!!!

Cupcakes by Wondermilk!

I shouldn't be blogging, I should be writing my dissertation. While one is entrusted with such important chore, one needs little treats and my little treats today is from Wondermilk. I fell in love with Wondermilk since my sister got it for me on my surprise 21st birthday!!

My love affair began as soon as I bite into those cute lil things and I love cloudy frostings!!! Well, What I loved about Wondermilk is the flavors!!! Lots and lots of flavors and I developed a taste for buttercream frosting and the frosting is so smooth, velvety, sweet and decadent and it goes well with the buttery little cupcake underneath!

One of my favourite flavors would be Rocky Road and Oreo and the classic you-can't-go-wrong Butter Cream. Unfortunately, my brother who loves all things sweet thinks the cupcakes are a tad too sweet for his liking.

Me? I just these as little treats to reward myself as I write chapter after chapter of my dissertation! A maxi cupcake is about 4.50MYR and a box of 4 maxi cupcakes is 17MYR.

You can find out more about Wondermilk, HERE!!

Oh, you wanna know why the pictures are so lovely right now? Well, it's all thanks to my professional photographer; Karin!!! She's not a girl with an expensive camera, she knows how to use and maximize those expensive cameras! Trust me when I say that she takes lovely pictures...

Colourful Food: Rainbow Cake & Tropical Paradise

This pretty little slice of heaven is from Bijoux, 1 Utama and I can tell you that i love Rainbow cakes because it's just too colorful and it makes me so darn happy with all their pretty, pretty colors!!! Too bad that it's just a simple, buttercream cake with lots of colouring. I bought this last slice for photography purposes. Pretty, no?

This absolutely pretty drink is from Asia Cafe where the bottom layer is Dragon Fruit, The middle layer is Mango and the top is Longan. Word of caution: DO NOT mix the colours when drinking... It ruins the taste. You drink it layer by layer. Cool, no? Not sure if other Asia Cafe has this but I had this at Asia Cafe, Puchong.

I love Cupcakes and the cupcake I like is from Wondermilk and I like colorful food this week and there's something about the butter cream that is so addictive.

Korean Food!

I had these little poppers of joys at Everland called Mini Melts. One thing I don't like about it? It melts too fast!!! But either than that, it's very sweet and a "healthier" alternative to ice cream!

This was my first dish in Korea. I love 닭갈비 Dakgalbi because it has everything you need in a plate!!! I love the chicken, spicy pepper sauce, and lots of vegetables!!!

Fried chicken is done differently in Korea. They don't sell part of the chicken, they cook up a whole chicken, family style and damn, it's delicious!!!

Favourite street food has got to be wieners!!! I loved this wieners in Myeong Dong where it comes with an assortment of wieners.

You can have wieners wrapped around rice cakes, chicken wieners, and all sorts of different types.

This is 비빔밥  Bibimbap and it's made using the finest and freshest ingredients in Korea and I made this!

Dakgalbi has many different versions. This one is the non spicy version with mushrooms, sauce and onions!

This is the extra spicy version with lots of spicy pepper paste, onions and mushroom... Extremely spicy!!

This is typical army food in Korea. All the food groups on a plate!! Soup, meat, veggies and how can you forget Kimchi???

This is another of my favourite. This is 칼국수 Kalguksu which is knife cut noodles served with mandu (Korean Dumplings)

Tiramisu cake is different in Korea and it has a kick with all the liqueur and I've never tasted such a delicious Tiramisu ever!!!

This is chocolate tea. It's not heavy like normally chocolate is concerned but rather light, similiar to tea but packed with chocolate flavour!!!

This is 삼겹살  Samgyeopsal which means to BBQ meat and I love these kind of dishes. I'm a fire hazard so, I have to stay away but it's delicious with onions!!! Lots and lots of onions!!!

For those who didn't know, I was in Korea for about a month and with that amount of time, I managed to eat everything good and delicious that Korea has to offer.

Food was absolutely delicious and after pigging out, I didn't put on any weight due to the "healthiness" of the food and lots of brisk walking!!

If you're ever in Korea, you have to try these recommendations. In fact, I know many delicious "joints" in Daejeon City and I still miss the food there.

Too bad, you can't get decent Korean food here anymore, besides all the Korean BBQ which is so passe!!

Ribs @ Oasis, Bandar Utama

My Chicken Thermidore, chicken on a bed of Mash Potato with cheese and tomatoes. I liked it because the chicken was tender and crispy at the same time, the marinate was very well done and you can taste the herbs in every bite and the mash was fluffy and tastes heavenly.
Mommy's Grilled Pork Loin Chop which she enjoyed, it was very well done, full of flavor at every bite and absolutely delish!
Daddy's Grilled Baby Back Pork Ribs with Honey Mustard sauce. I like the ribs because it's soft and the meat is falling off the bones, and it's not sweet, like the ribs at Chicago or most ribs, in fact. The mustard was strong and you can't really taste the sweetness of the honey but I like it.
Karin's Pan Fried Fish (Photo credit to Ribs@Oasis) it was very well done and delicious!!! Everyone liked her fish. No fishy smell, fan fried to perfection and very delicious!!!

For Father's Day, we went to Ribs@Oasis, BU because we had the Groupon and since it was my last weekend here, we had to puh Father's Day celebration one week earlier. I'll be in Korea and daddy will be going for his major surgery.

Anyways, the food was delectable and all of us enjoyed the meal immensely. The food was full of flavor, tender, juicy and we will come back. Unfortunately, the waiting time for us, was a bit of a turn off... We waited almost 45 minutes for our food and we were getting restless and hungry.

Either than the long waiting time, everything is exceptionally good! I loved the ribs and I would love to try their Pork Burgers....

REVISED: Bubba Gump, Sunway Pyramid

Cajun Shrimp (24.90MYR)

I'm Stuffed Shrimp (43.90MYR)

Shrimper's Net Catch 300g (29.90MYR)

Mama Blue's Southern Charm Fried Shrimp (38.90MYR)

Lobster Linguine (39.90MYR)

Me and Mommykins wanted to try Bubba Gump since many people has been raving about it. I'm not a fan of themed restaurants because I find that they put in more effort on the theme rather than the food. Hence, the hesitation.

We tried Mama Blue's Southern Charm Fried Shrimp and something of their Special Menu which was Lobster Pasta. Well, they didn't disappoint as the shrimps were juicy, big, crispy and generous. Mom and I loved it and we're already craving for more....

Their fries are like no other, somehow, it was very crispy and fluffy at the same time and the fried shrimp was very crispy on the outside and a fresh crisp on the inside... I love shrimps and seafood and I'm also very particular about my seafood. Overall, they exceeded my expectations.

Dying for another visit before I leave for KR this Friday for some time... Will miss Bubba Gump!

Ice Cream Day

This is the Banana Chocolate Parfait from Sushi Zanmai. It has corn flakes, vanilla ice cream, oreo bits, bananas, chocolate ice cream, fresh cream and chocolate sauce. mmmmmm.... delicious!

Next, we had Haagen Dazs and I so love their Banana Split, even though my search for a traditional old time banana split has to go on.... The 3 flavours we ordered were Tiramisu (THE BEST!!!), Macadamia Nut, and Cookies and Chocolate. It's served with a banana brulee-d to perfection.... But I didn't like it that way.. would prefer to just blow torch the banana or grilled it...

Then, we also wanted to try the Cookie Crisp but it was too sweet that all it was shared between the 3 of us... vanilla ice cream was encapsulated with chocolate layer and between 2 crisp wafers... it was quite delicious!

English Muffin Burgers and Triple Decker Sandwiches

I found these perfect little English Muffins, you know, the ones Mc Donald's serves on their breakfast menu? Well, I found these perfect little buns at Jaya Grocer, Damansara Perdana since that's nearest to The BF house and I've been craving for a good chicken burger, not those fast food ones... Those served at TGIF/Chillis are mainly beef.

I also found this chicken burgers under the brand of Victoria Crest and I have to say that It's the best chicken burger patties I've ever tasted!!! I served it on a bed of crisp baby butterheads, dijon mustard and mayonaise sauce, and an egg... OMG! Mind=BLOWN!

This is my triple decker sandwich and it's the perfect dinner even though it looks rather small. I got those Black Glutinous Rice Bread from Lavender (2-4 slices per pack) and I boiled 2 eggs, smashed it up with a fork, spread it on the bread and put a slice of Mozzarella cheese and toast it in the oven, fried a slice of ham, and press it all together...

I love sandwiches because the limitation is your imagination. Bread goes well with anything and now, there's a huge variety of breads and bread is full of fibre and good stuff that you need. This is just my ideas...
