Watami, 1 Utama

Wafu Pizza- was thin crust and moderately delicious. I still love Pasta Zanmai's pizza with scallops!!! This was just Teriyaki Chicken.
Ebi Tempura- Very delicious... I love this dish and unlike some tempura, this is not soggy at all...
Kushi Moriawase- It was nice, it was more like Teriyaki Chicken and beef but they substituted the beef with chicken...
Tokujo Iradori- I didn't eat this because even if i love sushi, i hate fish and raw sushi... But, according to Yan, it was delish!
Okonomi Satsuma- I love this version of a Tako Tao, only it's flat and round and over dosed with the Katsuobushi (Bonito flakes)

Tried Watami, Japanese Casual Dining at 1 Utama over the weekend. I loved the food there because they have so much variety but, the portions are small so, I was even more hungry before I ate.

The food was good, service was good and no complains. Just OK, will go there again to try their rice dishes. Too bad that they were out of beef on a weekend, lunch... Not that I eat beef but my mom and Yan wanted to have beef dishes.

The food was delicious and the pricing was just OK compared to the Japanese restaurants at Tokyo Street in Pavillion.

Mac 'N Cheese

Again, I'm guilty for watching too many Tyler's Ultimate and decided to try his Mac 'N Cheese With Bacon. This recipe is highly recommended and it tastes so damn heavenly, perfect for those cheesy cravings!!!!

But I made it with a twist. With the bacon mix, I added sausages!!! It was yummers and when it was ready to go into the oven, I used 2 types of cheese. I used Mozarella (grated) and those Chesdale Cheddar slices (Malaysian brand!)

So, it's jam packed with creamy, cheesy sauce, and I even topped it off with 2 types of cheese and the sausages!!! OMG!!!! I ate it with some traditional (simple) fried chicken and the cheesy texture blends with the crispy fried chicken!!!

Do give it a try! You wont regret it, I learnt my lesson from the last fiasco (Shrimp Scampi) and this recipe is halved since it's just me and mom!

Till the next dish!

Shrimp Scampi with Linguine

When I made this, I followed the recipe that serves 4-6 people but I made only 1 portion, nevertheless, it was relatively OK, but the dressing that was meant for 4-6 servings of linguine drowned my 1 single serving and it was too sour (the lemon!) Will halve the recipe the next time...

For dinner tonight, I will be trying out Tyler Florence's Shrimp Scampi With Linguine. I hope that it turns out well.

Fingers and toes crossed.

Putien, One Utama

Appetizer was the delicious, creamy Century Eggs. My BF doesn't even knows how much I love Century Eggs!!! I know it's a food right outta Bizarre Foods that Andrew Zimmern hosts. I have to say that it's an acquired taste and it's damn unhealthy!!!

The next appetizer is this Shredded Meat with Bun. The minute you bite into it, the juice and the tender meat explodes with the slightly sweet and salty taste of the bun and it's like the 4th of July in your mouth!!! This was by fas, our favorite dish of the day!

Madre's Sweet Potato Glass noodle. The were quite generous with the prawns, clams and veggies but I somehow, do not really like the texture of the noodle. It's springy and I almost choked on it 2-3 times! This dish is very "cheng" meaning that it's healthy. Clear, flavorful broth and not fried. It's delicious though, I just did not like the noodles.

I ordered the Seafood Fried Rice and this was the most disappointing dish. We had compared it to Din Tai Fung's Seafood Fried Rice which was heavenly and this one was well, oily and very little prawns, eggs, etc and the rice wasn't even fluffy. Another good fried rice rule is that, the rice has got to be fluffy.

This was Yan Yan's Rice Cake, I loved this dish. This dish tastes almost similar to Madre's Sweet Potato Glass noodle. Except that they used Rice Cakes, thinly sliced instead. I much preferred this dish over my fried rice. Same light, flavorful broth and generous with the prawns and clams.

I don't like pork organs but this intestines we're the bomb. It's chewy texture, soft and aromatic, it's delicious!!! MUST HAVE!!!

This was horrible because it supposed to be crunchy but it was too hard instead.

This was quite nice, it's like the soupy version of veggies in clear, broth soup with century eggs and the broth was very flavourful.

The dessert was Yam Paste which Yan Yan and Madre COULD NOT resist despite complaining excessively that they were full... I don't really like Yam Paste so, I didn't try it but the verdict was, it was delicious!!!

You must be wondering about this awkward post, well, i decided to combine my cooking blog into a full fledged food blog! I'm still me and I love food and I still hate cooking but, I'm trying my best. Believe it or not, I'm cooking more because of this blog, I hate inactive blogs so, I have to force myself to cook in order to keep it updated, constantly.

My cooking skills has improved tremendously according to The BF and I'm slowly but surly beginning to get the hang of it. I now know, what works and what don't. So, when I'm not cooking or baking, I'll be out eating.

Putien is a lovely place and it's reputation exceeds them. Was excited when they open a franchise in 1 Utama. This is a great place for healthy, Chinese food with a wide range of selection. Price wise, it's OK for Chinese casual dining. The total bill was 120MYR.

The serving sizes are huge so, do bear that in mind. All the dishes above was considered SMALL.

Breakfast Treats

After Ina Garten's Omelette For Two (Recipe below!) was such a success and I got egoistic and ambitious and attempted Sunny Anderson's Cooking For Real Breakfast Skillet Recipe and it turned out great as well. Unfortunately, i don't own a skillet and i don't eat beef (I substituted the beef chuck with minced chicken)

But these recipes are really easy and you should definitely try them out!

Remember my First Ever Blog back in 2011, August that I wanted to try Ina Garten aka The Barefoot Contessa Omelet for Two Recipe? Well, I finally got around to cooking it and it tastes great!!! Unfortunately, I only had 2 eggs in the fridge so, the egg-y mixture wasn't enough... Oh, and I put too much scallions but that's OK... Everyone loved it and it was easy to make!

Breakfast is the most essential part of the day and God knows i love breakfast and i love a full fledged English breakfast! You can't find food like these in Malaysia because we're a very deprived nation and we dislike anything Western. (That's what I think, or they don't have the skills!)

So, I have to attempt to cook these breakfast if I want to try them because that's the only way. Anyways, I'm glad I did and it was lovely with some hot lemon tea and I enjoyed every single bite of it! Honestly, I'm sick of McD's Breakfast or KFC Breakfast! And my classes are not in the evenings so, I can have breakfast delights, the whole day!!!

Chinese Fried Rice

For those who knows me, I'm the anti Christ to the anti Chinese. I suck real bad at being Chinese! (If that's even possible) I hate admitting that I'm a big, fat, ol banana! But once in a while, I have the urge to be Chinese. In my 24 years, I've only worn a cheong sam twice.

So, I attempted to cook Chinese Style Fried Rice cause my recent failure(s) with Pavlova/Merengues was killing me. Fried is the most easy to make dish and a great way to clear your fridge. You have some ham?, throw it in, you have some leftover rice? Great!!!

Anyways, I love my fried rice with lots eggs and this plate has 2 eggs mixed into the rice and a beautiful Sunny Side Up to top it all off. This is my recipe! No sauces, no fuss. Just simple, delicious fried rice, Chinese style. Oh, do cook it in a wok.

INGREDIENTS:
2 Cups of Rice (Preferably leftover rice)
300 Grams of Prawns (Shell removed, clean, deveined)
250 Grams of French Beans (Chopped)
2 eggs
3 Chinese Sausages. (Halved and chopped)
*You can find it in Non-Halal speciality stores like Jaya Grocer or Village Grocer. Can't find it at Jusco or Tesco.
*Do peel off the plastic that is wrapped around the sausage before cutting it.
1 packet of Maggi Nasi goreng Cina (Secret recipe!)

INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Fry the French Beans till cooked, then add, the prawns and Chinese Sausages.
2) Add the Rice and press down clumps of rice till it's nice and fluffy.
3) Make a hole in the middle of the wok, pour some oil and break 2 eggs (Including the yolk) in the middle and cover it with rice.
4) Start frying, mixing the eggs with the rice and everything.
5) Sprinkle the packet of Maggi Nasi Goreng Cina and fry for 2 minutes.
6) Sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper.
7) Put it on a plate and it's ready to serve! If you're like me, and you love eggs, just add an extra egg and make a sunny side up and enjoy!

This recipe serves 3-4 people. Try it, it's cheap, fuss free and so convenient!
